THE PREP UNIT
This term the prep children are learning all about the musical concepts of beat, pitch and tempo whilst listening, singing, moving and playing various tuned and untuned percussion instruments.
THE 1/2 UNIT
This term the Year 1/2 children are learning all about the musical concepts of beat or no beat, rhythm and pitch whilst listening, singing, moving and playing various tuned and untuned percussion instruments.
THE 3/4 UNIT
This term the Year 3/4 children are learning all about the basics of musical notation. They will read and play well known pieces of music. Finally, they will compose a basic piece of music. Our students will perform for each other and have their work recorded.
THE 5/6 UNIT
This term the Year 5/6 children are learning all about the basics of rap music, including beatboxing, in order to create their own rap. Our students will perform for each other and have their work recorded.
SCHOOL OF ROCK
Our rock band, The Willmott Rockers, consisting of six Year 5/6 students and one 3/4 student rehearse weekly and perform at assemblies and other special events. They recently performed at the Northern Metropolitan Region’ School of Rock and caused quite a sensation! Similarly, twenty-three of our Year 5/6 students also performed at School of Rock with a fantastic tribute to Motown’s 50th Anniversary.
